Lexus has unveiled a luxurious new off-road concept at the annual Tokyo Auto Salon. Based on the all-new plug-in Lexus NX 450h+, the modified SUV follows the recently revealed recreational off-highway vehicle concept as a means of inspiring an adventurous yet more refined lifestyle.
The new NX off-road concept retains all the comfort, equipment and EV capabilities of the production car but is enhanced with key elements inspired by overlanding trends. Its deep bronze paintwork – identical to that of the ROV Concept – not only highlights the model’s muscular character but blends effectively into a variety of outdoor environments. The natural hue is accented with smoky chrome and matt black trim elements, particularly around the grille and lower perimeter of the body.
As the all-new NX is the first Lexus to be offered with Trail Mode control on its all-wheel drive system, the concept enhances the capabilities of this system with an upgraded footprint. Wheel size has dropped to 17 inches in order to accommodate chunky all-terrain tyres, which fill the arches and offer reassuring grip when going it alone off the beaten track. And for those times when even 1,436 litres of seats-down load space is not enough to carry your camping equipment, the NX is equipped with a roof-mounted Thule carrier basket to hold the extras.
Displayed together on the Tokyo Auto Salon show stand, the two concepts embody our efforts to achieve a carbon neutral society, while simultaneously expanding customer choice and providing new values that exceed expectations. The aim is to balance the refinement and driving pleasure customers associate with Lexus with an adventure-hungry lifestyle that is in harmony with nature.

A fabulous car but why is this not all electric – you are falling behind the competition – who on earth would want a plug -in hybrid when I have been driving a Rh 450 hybrid for 10 years with auto changeover

Thanks for your comment.
Our philosophy is and always has been ‘customer first’ and we’re focusing on developing a range of options to suit different customer needs.
While we understand and support the increasing relevance of BEV, we also recognize the diversity of customer needs and driving environments around the world, imposing the use of different powertrain options.

How much on the second one
Hello,
The ROV concept and the NX 450h+ off road concept are both currently not for sale.
Thanks.
Looks fantastic when will it be available to order
Hello Bertie,
Thanks for your comment.
Currently, this is just a concept so we have no information on when it will be available to order.
Thanks.
Looks good –
When will it come to market?
Hello Ramish,
We do not have any information on this at the moment.
Thanks.
Perfect for adventure times. Good idea for anywhere.
If you do not have or rather are not concentrating on “Going Electric” on more models then surely you should be throwing everything on improving petrol consumption..
I have a Hybrid Takuma and an IS3000 and the former is very heavy on consumption even with careful driving in economy mode..
I will be changing both in 2022/3 and see little to excite me from Lexus at this stage of planning.
Hello Barrie,
Thank you very much for your loyalty.

what is the sign in the nx plug in for off road , i presume this is the tree emblem and suv that when pressed it comes up on the dashboard as well . But after 6 months I am finding more little things each day that make this SUV a pleasure to drive , must jump soon to the rz when it can produce more distance on a full charge. Keep the quality of these builds going, on my 4th one now !!! and going skint,,
