Lexus is pleased to announce that owners of compatible UX, NX and ES models now have the possibility of an upgrade to their vehicle’s multimedia system to include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration*.
Compatible vehicles for the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade:
- Lexus UX models produced from January 2019 to September 2019
- Lexus NX models produced from September 2018 to September 2019
- Lexus ES models produced from October 2018 to September 2019
This Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade allows owners to access the services included in their mobile phone on the multimedia display screen and action them through voice activation or by manually prompting through the steering wheel controls or touchscreen itself. In this way they will be able to safely enjoy applications such as Google Maps, Spotify, Amazon Music, WhatsApp and Waze without the need to directly interact with their mobile phone.
The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade for compatible vehicles will be carried out by appointment at your local Lexus centre. Lexus recommends that owners arrange to have the upgrade installed during a scheduled service.

*Lexus has installed its enhanced multimedia system as standard equipment across all vehicles since the 2020 model year. Depending on vehicle and specification, this means that most Lexus models with this system will feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

Not sure why the RX model is singled out will not encourage any 2019 owners to renew we all like me have spent our money on RX but Lexus did not sell a lot so they ignored us!

Hi, I’ve a Lexus CT200h 2016 model. I had no problem taking calls as well as playing the media from my phone on car stereo with my previous iPhone X. Ever since I’ve started using my new iPhone 12 the media wouldn’t play. I’ve tried everything including contacting Apple support.

I am surprised that Lexus has completely forgotten about owners of the GS model year 2020. It’s seems Lexus is only interested in customers of UX, NX and ES. Why don’t Lexus stop selling the other models and only focus on the 3 models mentioned in the retrofit upgrade. Very Sad.

The Lexus GS was discontinued in the UK in 2018, with the Lexus ES offering an exciting alternative.

Hi does the android auto compatible with ct 200h Advance Nav. 2014 model. And also I’ve been trying to set up voice control it says i have to registrar voice tag bit when i look in my phone book i can’t see anything to registrar a voice tag what can i do about that. Cheers Joan

I have a 2017 GS Premier, and notice there is a kit on You tube that can upgrade to Car Play. This is currently available in the US, but would be good if it could be fitted in UK through Lexus centres. Can I ask you to investigate and advise if feasible.

This is a third party product and cannot be fitted by a Lexus centre. Saying that, you are free to get it fitted by non-Lexus workshop.
