How to update maps on your Lexus Premium Navigation System

The Lexus Premium Navigation system can be updated periodically using downloadable updates, ensuring that you always have the latest road and route information in your Lexus, saving you time and money, and minimising stress when journeying to a new destination.

Updating the maps is a simple process using an update from Lexus supplied on a MicroSD card. To check if your Lexus vehicle uses a MicroSD card update, look for a MicroSD slot beneath the audio control panel in the centre console.

To find out how to purchase and install the map update to your Lexus, simply watch the video below or read on for a step-by-step guide.

How to update maps on your Lexus Premium Navigation System

  1. Begin by making sure your vehicle is completely turned off, and then remove the current MicroSD card from the slot in the centre console. Simply press it in to eject it from the slot.
  2. Using a web browser on a computer or tablet, navigate to the Lexus customer portal and sign in. If you don’t already have an account, you can register at this point.
  3. Once signed-in, select ‘Additional Services’, and click on ‘Get the latest map updates for your navigation unit’. You will be redirected to the Lexus Map Updates website.
  4. Click on ‘Get a Map’, select your vehicle model from the drop-down list, and select your current navigation system.
  5. In the box beneath, enter the last five digits from the MicroSD card your removed in step one. Click ‘Next’ to add the latest update to your basket.
  6. Complete the checkout process with your delivery details and make payment using a credit card or via PayPal. Once the order is complete, an updated MicroSD card will be sent directly to you in the post.
  7. When you receive the new MicroSD card, installation is simple – with the vehicle completely switched off, replace the current MicroSD card in your Lexus with the new one.
  8. When you next start your car, the Premium Navigation system will recognise the new card and automatically update the map information.

If you need any help along the way, don’t hesitate to call or pop into your local Lexus centre where a fully trained technician will be happy to help.

  1. Hello, the video shows how to find SD card in a Lexus IS; I have a Lexus GS and I’m not able to find the SD card: someone can tell me how I can do it ?
    Thanks.

    1. Hi Massimiliano, thanks for getting in touch. Your Lexus GS may not have an SD card as this is dependent on the age of the vehicle. Your navigation update may need to be carried out by your local Lexus centre. We recommend checking your navigation system for updates and how/where they can be obtained via: http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/. We hope this helps.

      1. Thanks Kerry. My car is 2 years old. Sincerly i tried the web you sad but i’ve not understood which kind configuration i have (ie sd card, hdd or other).
        Regards

        1. Hi Massimiliano, thanks for getting back in touch. We recommend visiting your local Lexus centre so they can see your navigation system first hand and advise accordingly with the relevant navigation update and any costs associated with this. To find your local Lexus centre visit: http://forms.lexus.co.uk/mvc/find-a-centre/. We hope this helps

  2. Hi Kerry,
I hope I’m not butting into someone else’s thread many apologies if so.

I have a 62 plate (4th generation) GS450h Premier with Mark Levinson audio. Could you tell me what the latest European (and UK) map is please? I have the EMVN (11HDD) navigation system which might be generation 7? The Lexus Portal claims that May 2015 is the latest but this would make it over a year between updates, which I thought were six monthly.

    Regards,
    Barry

    1. Hi Barry,
Thanks for your post. We have spoken to our Lexus product team and they are advising that the latest update as far as they can see is May 2015. Hope this helps. Many thanks.

  3. Hi there,

I have a IS300H from 2013, Luxury Premium version. Can you tell me when the 2016 map will be available? Currently the latest map for my device is Q42015.

    Thank you

    1. Hello Amar. We’re afraid we cannot give you a specific date. However, you can check if an update is available for your vehicle by visiting this website: po.st/4LIJmT. We hope this helps.

  4. I installed the newest map sd card and it just says reading info on the screen. Is it supposed to say that while it’s updating? If so, how long does it take?

        1. Hi Mark,
After speaking with our technical team, it sounds as though there is an issue with your system. They have recommended speaking with your local centre. Many thanks.

  5. Hi Kelly, Ella and others, I commented earlier in this thread and I have to say I’m disappointed. There doesn’t appear to be any clarity on when the latest map update will be available or even what the latest update is for sure. You couch your replies with phrases like “cannot give you a specific date” and “as far as they can see”.

If, as you say, the latest update for my car is really May 2015 then if I buy this my maps will be 16 months out of date – not including the time between map data being collected and coded onto your system. This is clearly unsatisfactory. My Lexus dealer thinks there is in fact a later map released earlier this year but I’m most reluctant to have it fitted if his information turns out to be wrong. You will be aware that we can buy complete navigation systems for less than the price of one of your updates and can even use Google Maps and other applications (regularly updated) for free on our phones.

Really you should have accurate data readily available and up to date web information.

I’m unfamiliar with Massimo’s particular vehicle but if he gives you his VIN number surely you ought to be able to advise him if his car is fitted with an SD card and if so where it is. He can certainly visit his dealers but this may not be convenient for him.

It is great to have you here to answer questions but you need the information to give speedy and accurate replies rather than deflecting questions back to your dealers.

    Barry

    1. Hi Barry,
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the query we are unable to state when a new update will be available. Our technical team here at Lexus UK do not have access to information stating when there will be an update. I will pass your comments on to our team and they will be taken into consideration. A Lexus centre is usually the best way to source information and advice when dealing with technical queries or any other queries. We try and answer questions and comments to the best of our ability. Many thanks.

      1. Thanks for your response Ella and I’m sorry that you don’t have access to the information you need to help customers and odd that the central Lexus technical team has less information than that available at Lexus centres. I’m sure you do your best with what you do have. A great pity that the whole map update process is so opaque and that the latest update for my car is over 16 months old.
        Have a good weekend.

  6. Dear all,

I would like to update my year 2011 LEXUS RX450h navigation EMVN (11HDD), where to find the right update and how much would that cost? Any info how to do the update? I would not want to pay 350EUR for dealer putting USB/CD inside.Thanks. Michael

    1. Hi Michael,
Thank you for your comment. We are speaking to our technical team and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Many thanks.

  7. Hi. I have a 2015 CT200H but when I log in to the Customer Portal the only thing I can do is book a service or plan a trip. Additional Services has been removed???

    1. Hi Jim,
Sorry for the delayed reply, the App was recently updated to only show what is relevant to the connected vehicle. However, please could you provide your Reg or VIN number so we can check this or you. Many thanks.

        1. Hi Jim,
Please could you get a screen shot, plus version information from the app and what phone it is on etc. Please could you then contact us via the app and take a screen shot and attach it to that email so we can set up a case for you. Hope this helps.

          1. Hi Jim,
Thank you for letting us know. We are looking in to this now and will get back to you as soon as we can. Many thanks.

        1. Hi Ali,
Thank you for providing this, however please could you contact Lexus in your region as they would be in the best position to assist you. Many thanks.
