What will happen to the first production Lexus LC Convertible?

Full production of the new Lexus LC 500 Convertible will soon commence in preparation for the model going on sale across the world this summer. But what will happen to the first example that rolls off the production line?

The answer to this question was decided last week at the annual Barrett-Jackson auction in Arizona, USA, where Lexus sold that historic model (vehicle identification number 100001) for $2 million and shared the entire figure between the Boys & Girls Clubs of America charity and the Bob Woodruff Foundation.

Representing the car in question was the pre-production LC 500 Convertible displayed at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. However, the inaugural production model will also be finished in breathtaking Structural Blue paintwork with an elegant semi-aniline white leather interior. Further features will include unique blue brake calipers, exclusive 21-inch forged alloy wheels and custom carbon fibre sill plates bearing the legend, LC Inspiration Series Launch Exclusive 1 of 1.

To sweeten this already unmissable opportunity, the person behind the winning bid will soon receive a bounty of additional collectables and experiences. This includes the first made-to-measure luggage set for the LC Convertible from travel brand Zero Halliburton, a one-on-one performance driving experience with Lexus brand ambassador Scott Pruett, a three-night stay at the Pebble Beach Resort, and a one-off illustrated build diary from the Motomachi plant signed by the vehicle’s chief engineers.
