Goodwood 2017: new LC coupe takes centre stage

Lexus will mark the official start of UK sales of its new LC luxury coupe on 1 July with a high-profile showcase at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, from 29 June to 2 July.

The all-new model, acclaimed by critics as an international design sensation, will be prominently displayed on the Lexus stand. It will also take part in demonstration runs up the famous hill course in the festival’s First Glance programme for forthcoming prestige cars.

It’s the V8-powered LC 500 that will be in action on the hill. Meanwhile, the five models displayed on the Lexus stand will also include the LC 500h petrol-electric hybrid, the first car to be equipped with the revolutionary new Lexus Multi Stage Hybrid System. All will be in impressive Sport Plus trim, which equips the coupe with carbon fibre detailing, Alcantara cabin upholstery and headlining, 21-inch forged alloy wheels and an advanced handling pack that includes four-wheel steering, Variable Gear Ratio Steering and a limited-slip differential.

Lexus is a principal sponsor of this year’s festival. In keeping with the event’s celebration of sporting performance and style, its static display will also feature F Sport versions of its RX and NX SUV models, plus the svelte RC F performance coupe.

The RC F has also been enjoying a successful first season as a full-blooded racer in international GT competition. A taste of its winning form will be provided by a brace of new GT3-specification cars taking part in the timed runs on the hill climb. The cars will be standard-bearers for the RC F’s participation in top-level IMSA sportscar racing in North America and in Europe’s premier endurance racing series.

Crowds in excess of 200,000 over the festival weekend will also witness a welcome Goodwood return for the Lexus LFA in the Supercar Shoot-out.

  1. How about a competition to win tickets for current Lexus owners to go to the FOS and see the new Lexus?
