Lexus ES 300h: what’s changed for 2023

Lexus ES 300h

Lexus is introducing a series of enhancements to the ES 300h saloon range for the 2023 model year, including an upgraded multimedia system.

Introduced in 2018, the Lexus ES 300h has proved attractive to private and business customers alike who appreciate its high levels of comfort and convenience. The ease-of-use quality is at the heart of the model’s new multimedia system, which provides faster response, more intuitive operation and access to more functions.  New features include cloud-based navigation, improved recognition of voice commands and wireless smartphone integration using Apple CarPlay (a wired connection can be used for Android Auto).

Cloud-based navigation gives access to real-time road and traffic information for easier journey planning and avoidance of delays. It can also be used to access information on local fuel prices and parking. If a cloud connection should be lost, embedded navigation provided on higher-grade models can be used.

The multimedia functions also include the “Hey Lexus” onboard assistant. This responds to voice commands, for example, to make a phone call, adjust the audio and climate control and search the internet. It can respond to informal comments, for example adjusting the air conditioning in response to “I’m cold.”

An upgraded data communications module (DCM) allows the vehicle to communicate with mobile networks and the internet. This enables connection to e-Care, a diagnostic service that provides advice to drivers in the rare event their car experiences a technical failure. Through the e-Care health check report, Lexus can monitor the vehicle at all times and share the data with Lexus retailers. The customer’s preferred Lexus centre can then make contact to schedule servicing at the ideal interval.

The DCM upgrade also makes it possible for owners to access their car remotely using the Lexus Link smartphone app. This can lock or unlock the doors, operate the hazard lights and the set the air conditioning to warm or cool the cabin before making a journey.

Inside the new Lexus ES 300h, the centre console has been revised, providing two cup holders and USB-A and USB-C ports for playback and device charging respectively. For convenience, the wireless charging tray (where specified) has been moved from inside to outside the console box. There is also a new Ammonite Sand interior colour trim option.

Production of the 2023 Lexus ES will commence in August 2022, with deliveries to customers expected in October.

  1. Why on earth you do not display Takumi name on the vehicle? You do with the sports, or maybe you just are not proud of the brand.

  2. Hopefully the upgraded infotainment system is now on a par with that of BMW or Audi? T his is the only reason I didn’t but an ES 2 years ago and opted for a 330e instead as the setup installed at the time was archaic!

  3. These ugrades/updates are in themselves impressive but I would like to see an item of additional protection as follows:-

Would you please confirm that within the upgrades for the 2022 Models there has been any improvement to protect the Catalytic Converters from theft?

    Thank you.

    Tony Outhwaite

    1. Hello Tony,
      Thank you for your comment.
In recent years with changes in catalytic converter design, Lexus have reduced the amount of these precious metals by up to 84%.
This makes the catalytic converters less appealing to thieves as they are less ‘profitable’.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
      Thanks.

    1. Hello Vladimir,
It is possible to get the Mark Levinson sound system on the ES 300h F SPORT if you also opt for the Takumi Pack.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
      Thanks.

  4. Which of the models within the 2022 es range have or can have a heated front screen and sequential indicator units? Also is the loyalty bonus still available as I payed the final payment to purchase my Lexus IS in 2021 at the end of the PCP contract due to the Covid uncertainty?

    1. Hello,
      Thanks for your comment.
Sequential indicators are standard on the Takumi Grade. However, they are available on the Standard ES Grade with Premium Pack or the F SPORT Grade with the Tech & Safety Pack or Takumi Pack.
As for the Front Screen de-icer, this is standard on all grades except the Standard ES Grade, which it can be added by purchasing the Premium Pack.
As for your loyalty bonus, your Lexus Centre would be best placed to advise on this.
      Thanks.

  5. I own the 2021 model year Premium Edition and the main comment I have is the loss of the gorgeous two tone brown dash with brown inserts on the seats, to be replaced by same as everybody’s black dash and inserts yawn. I do welcome the addition of the touch screen infotainment system, which the dealer has assured me is very responsive. The dealer has convinced me to exchange my current cat for the 2022 model year, even with the expense of black, with some very tempting offers, without those, I would have said No, due to the boring black.

    1. Hello Ian,
We are sure that the new ES 300h will not disappoint you.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.
      Thanks.

  6. Have a ES300 h premium edition and been driving for nearly a year , but as now retired I read the specifications of the new 2022 model and going to treat myself now after all the years working so I have placed an order for the 2022 model ES 300h Takumi edition.
