Lexus ES 300h: what’s changed for 2023

Lexus ES 300h

Lexus is introducing a series of enhancements to the ES 300h saloon range for the 2023 model year, including an upgraded multimedia system.

Introduced in 2018, the Lexus ES 300h has proved attractive to private and business customers alike who appreciate its high levels of comfort and convenience. The ease-of-use quality is at the heart of the model’s new multimedia system, which provides faster response, more intuitive operation and access to more functions.  New features include cloud-based navigation, improved recognition of voice commands and wireless smartphone integration using Apple CarPlay (a wired connection can be used for Android Auto).

Cloud-based navigation gives access to real-time road and traffic information for easier journey planning and avoidance of delays. It can also be used to access information on local fuel prices and parking. If a cloud connection should be lost, embedded navigation provided on higher-grade models can be used.

The multimedia functions also include the “Hey Lexus” onboard assistant. This responds to voice commands, for example, to make a phone call, adjust the audio and climate control and search the internet. It can respond to informal comments, for example adjusting the air conditioning in response to “I’m cold.”

An upgraded data communications module (DCM) allows the vehicle to communicate with mobile networks and the internet. This enables connection to e-Care, a diagnostic service that provides advice to drivers in the rare event their car experiences a technical failure. Through the e-Care health check report, Lexus can monitor the vehicle at all times and share the data with Lexus retailers. The customer’s preferred Lexus centre can then make contact to schedule servicing at the ideal interval.

The DCM upgrade also makes it possible for owners to access their car remotely using the Lexus Link smartphone app. This can lock or unlock the doors, operate the hazard lights and the set the air conditioning to warm or cool the cabin before making a journey.

Inside the new Lexus ES 300h, the centre console has been revised, providing two cup holders and USB-A and USB-C ports for playback and device charging respectively. For convenience, the wireless charging tray (where specified) has been moved from inside to outside the console box. There is also a new Ammonite Sand interior colour trim option.

Production of the 2023 Lexus ES will commence in August 2022, with deliveries to customers expected in October.

  1. I’m looking to replace my very old Toyota Avensis Tourer. The ES looks a very nice car but I shall be looking for an estate.
    Does Lexus make an estate?

    1. Hello Keith,
      Thank you for contacting Lexus.
Currently, we do not make an Estate vehicle.
However, we have a wide range of SUVs and the ES which we are sure would not disappoint.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
      Thanks.

  2. I would love to know if and or when the Lexus LF-SA will be built and if so what engine will it have fitted or will it be an EV.
The LF-SA is eagerly awaited please build this wonderful Car.

  3. Ian looking to change my Macan for a less expensive to run vehicle.
Is there an online brochure for the ES?

  4. Can’t wait. F Sport on order slipped from Jan to March then to April but now back to March.
Love all 3 previous models but the ES in my option takes some beating .
Agi is a great Saleswomen and gives out no bull.

  5. I have been lucky enough to have one of the first ES300h models delivered last month. I really am delighted by the car with the upgrades all definitely offering improvements over the previous models, particularly the excellent touch screen for navigation and information. I am astonished by the fuel consumption figures which can reach 55mpg if I try. But even if I don’t try 53 mpg is easily achieved. Quiet, smooth and sophisticated with outstanding levels of included equipment.
But all of this is seriously detracted from by the lack of a proper owners manual. Instead their is a quick guide type booklet which is really illogically set out with the owner directed to access more than 700 pages of detailed information provided in an online owners manual and an online owners navigation manual. It is true that I could read all this on my computer but I need something which I can read in the car so I can apply the incredible amount of information or options available (and which I have paid for) effectively and safely. The books are full of safety information so I am surprised that the arrangements meet consumer protection requirements. And it is irritating that the downloadable books are in printed book format with two columns of script requiring continuous top to bottom scrolling to read them. If we have to have e information at least use an e format!
I am sure someone sees this as a saving for the environment. I fail to see how every owner having to print 700 pages of information creates any saving but is real savings are to be made then Lexus could look elsewhere such as the environmental implcations of their showroom footprint.
So great Car! …..But really disappointing that the ‘anticipating every customers wishes in advance’ can’t anticipate such an obvious need. Please send me the handbooks I require?

    1. Hello Adrian,
Congratulations on your new ES 300h.
In regards to obtaining your handbooks, we would recommend discussing this with your Lexus Centre.
They will be best placed to provide a solution for this situation.
      Thanks.

  6. Hello, two questions please.

Will you confirm when the ES battery will be upgraded from Nickel-Metal hydride to Lithium-Ion?. Will you introduce a DCT type gearbox to the ES, to replace the CVT currently fitted?.

    Thank you.

  7. Ordered my new 2022 ES FSport – Azure Blue with the white/aluminium interior, replacing my 2019 ES FSport to take advantage of the new features as outlined above plus the used car market prices made the deal definitely possible!

    1. Hello Dave,
Thank you for your order, great colour choice.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can assist you with anything.
      Thanks.
