Lexus UK is delighted to announce a new partnership with Alfie Hewett, the World’s number one ranked men’s wheelchair tennis player. The British sporting star joins fellow top players Cameron Norrie and Katie Boulter as Lexus extends its commitment to British tennis as headline sponsor of the national teams competing in the Billie Jean King Cup, Davis Cup and wheelchair World Team Cup. Lexus is also proud to support the game at all levels as the Official Performance Partner and Official Automotive Partner of the Lawn Tennis Association.
Alfie Hewett won silver medals in the men’s singles and doubles events at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, and added another silver at the Tokyo Games in 2012. Last year he received an OBE in the King’s Birthday Honours for his services to tennis, and was also shortlisted for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards. Now 26 years of age, Alfie has accumulated an astonishing 27 Grand Slam titles, including the men’s doubles at this year’s Australian Open. He is now preparing for a busy season leading up to Wimbledon and the Paralympic Games in Paris.
As part of his ambassadorship for Lexus, Alfie Hewett has been provided with a Lexus RX 450h+ plug-in hybrid luxury SUV. It offers plenty of boot space for both his tennis gear and wheelchair when travelling to training and tournaments around the UK.
“I’m really excited to join the Lexus team,” Hewett enthused. “For a brand like Lexus to want to showcase its interest in the wheelchair tennis movement is a really powerful and progressive step forward for the sport. It makes me proud to have Lexus involved in my tennis journey on and off the court. I spend a lot of time in my RX going to and from training in London and Norwich, and it really helps me to have such a comfortable vehicle to make the long journeys enjoyable and more sustainable.”
Chris Hayes, director of Lexus UK, commented: “Alfie Hewett strives for excellence and is a master of his craft, which is a perfect match to the Lexus brand values of outstanding craftsmanship and attention to detail which outclass the competition. Driving the RX will ensure Alfie arrives at this season’s tournaments relaxed and ready to achieve even more in what is already an incredibly impressive career.”
