The latest advert for the Lexus UX 250h self-charging hybrid was broadcast for the first time on television on Monday 2 January 2023. Starring our compact luxury SUV resplendent in its F Sport White colour scheme, the new Lexus UX TV advert also features musician Joy Crookes. Many of you have been asking us questions about the advert, so here’s everything you need to know about the new ad.
Who is the actress in the new Lexus UX advert?
Singer and musician Joy Crookes is the is the leading protagonist in the advert. She is a rising star in the UK having been nominated for a Mercury Prize in 2022. Coupled with her talent, Joy’s striking style is a curated fusion of cultures and eras, influenced by her upbringing in richly diverse South London. Crookes also uses her platform to raise awareness of issues close to her heart, including sustainability, focusing on how future generations should have access to natural spaces, no matter where they come from.
What is the storyline of the Lexus UX advert?
The new Lexus UX 250h is the smallest SUV we currently have in the range. The advert is based on the theme “The energy that drives you on,” in which Joy uses the UX to illustrate her passion, energy and fast-paced lifestyle. In the advert we see Joy Crookes spend a fun day with her friends. The UX hybrid is seen as the facilitator of Joy’s metropolitan exploration, featuring a trip to the beach and a journey through a vibrant metropolis, while highlighting the UX’s state-of-the-art technology and as fun to drive an urban car that can match the pace of Joy’s busy lifestyle.
How is the story connected to the philosophy behind the UX?
In the new Lexus UX 250h advert, we see our brand ambassador Joy Crookes. The new advert celebrates the theme, “the energy that drives you on”, and sees Joy enjoying the UX and celebrating her heritage. The advert lets you capture the essence of the Lexus UX through Joy’s eyes, a vehicle developed with the idea of ‘Continuous Evolution’ in mind.
What is the music in the new Lexus UX advert?
Joy’s most famous song ‘Feet Don’t Fail Me Now’ is the song featured in the advert. It’s from her album ‘Skin’ which was nominated for the Mercury Prize award. ‘Skin’ was released in October 2021 to wide critical acclaim and reached the top five in the UK. “Feet Don’t Fail Me Now” became her third single to top the UK Asian Top 40 and is featured on the EA Sports video game FIFA 22.
Where was the advert filmed?
The new Lexus UX TV advert was filmed in the picturesque city of Barcelona. Capturing a beautiful sunset and golden hew, the advert gives you all the warm feelings of a bustling Spanish city experiencing a rare, serene atmosphere.
Who came up with the creative concept for the new Lexus UX advert?
We work closely with our creative agency, The & Partnership, who work on all of our model launch campaigns. They developed the UX campaign from concept, storyboard and through to filming.

Collecting our Lexus 250h, colour red, with 18inch run flat tyres after the 16th March 2023 from Lexus Lincoln. This advert has increased our anticipation to a brilliant new car, with the 2023 updates. We are being sent a video of “our” car when it arrives at the Lexus Lincoln dealership whilst pre delivery inspections are carried out.
