Lexus ES 300h: what’s changed for 2023

Lexus ES 300h

Lexus is introducing a series of enhancements to the ES 300h saloon range for the 2023 model year, including an upgraded multimedia system.

Introduced in 2018, the Lexus ES 300h has proved attractive to private and business customers alike who appreciate its high levels of comfort and convenience. The ease-of-use quality is at the heart of the model’s new multimedia system, which provides faster response, more intuitive operation and access to more functions.  New features include cloud-based navigation, improved recognition of voice commands and wireless smartphone integration using Apple CarPlay (a wired connection can be used for Android Auto).

Cloud-based navigation gives access to real-time road and traffic information for easier journey planning and avoidance of delays. It can also be used to access information on local fuel prices and parking. If a cloud connection should be lost, embedded navigation provided on higher-grade models can be used.

The multimedia functions also include the “Hey Lexus” onboard assistant. This responds to voice commands, for example, to make a phone call, adjust the audio and climate control and search the internet. It can respond to informal comments, for example adjusting the air conditioning in response to “I’m cold.”

An upgraded data communications module (DCM) allows the vehicle to communicate with mobile networks and the internet. This enables connection to e-Care, a diagnostic service that provides advice to drivers in the rare event their car experiences a technical failure. Through the e-Care health check report, Lexus can monitor the vehicle at all times and share the data with Lexus retailers. The customer’s preferred Lexus centre can then make contact to schedule servicing at the ideal interval.

The DCM upgrade also makes it possible for owners to access their car remotely using the Lexus Link+ smartphone app. This can lock or unlock the doors, operate the hazard lights and the set the air conditioning to warm or cool the cabin before making a journey.

Inside the new Lexus ES 300h, the centre console has been revised, providing two cup holders and USB-A and USB-C ports for playback and device charging respectively. For convenience, the wireless charging tray (where specified) has been moved from inside to outside the console box. There is also a new Ammonite Sand interior colour trim option.

Production of the 2023 Lexus ES will commence in August 2022, with deliveries to customers expected in October.

  1. Does the ES300H as it is front wheel drive come with a spare wheel or just that useless repair kit I have had to risk driving with on my last three IS300Hs. Just yes or no , I have heard all the excuses before.

  2. What happened to my post?

Is the Truth not in keeping with your business ethics?

Not to worry. I will raise my concern through the national motoring press instead!

    1. Hello Robin,
As stated in our reply to your last comment, we would recommend discussing obtaining your handbooks with your Lexus Centre.
They will be best placed to provide a solution for this situation.
      Thanks.

  3. I am about to order an ES300h 2022 model year. Is it all possible to delete the rear spoiler? I don’t understand why the spoiler is not an optional extra. The ES in the US and in Japan can be specified without it. I much prefer the look without the spoiler.

    1. Hello David,
      Thank you for contacting Lexus.
Unfortunately, there is no way to order an ES 300h without rear spoiler from the factory.
      Thanks.

  4. Hi Lexus,
Looking forward to buy Lexus ES over BMW 5 Series and Merc E – class
I have a couple of questions
    1. what is the difference between F-sport + Takumi Pack and Takumi Variant ?
    2. why Takumi edition doesn’t have Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) as its a top-end variant ?

    1. Hello Raju,
      Thank you for contacting Lexus.
The F SPORT with Takumi Pack comes with Adaptive High Beam System (AHS) with Bladescan, a Card Key, Electric sun shade for rear screen, Sequential indicators, Hands-free power back door with kick sensor, 17-speaker Mark Levinson® Premium Surround Sound System, 12.3″ touchscreen display with Remote Touch Interface, 360° Panoramic View Monitor with Pedestrian Alert, Wireless smartphone charger, HUD (Head-Up Display) with colour.
Furthermore, the Takumi Pack comes with a Heated F SPORT leather steering wheel which is not available on the Takumi Grade.
As for why the Takumi Grade doesn’t come with AVS, this is because the F SPORT has slightly different sporty options available.
However, we understand that this might be of inconvenience, so we will pass this feedback onto our Wider Product Team.
      Thanks.

      1. Thanks very much for information

Any features update on es300h 2022 model comparative with previous model 2021 (takumi model) ?

        1. Hello Rama,
This article goes into more detail about the Model Year 2022 ES 300h changes.
The Digital Side View Monitors are available as an option on the Takumi grade.
These have now been revised to ensure clearer images are shown in poor light conditions to offer improved definition between light and shade.
          Thanks.

  5. Is it better to buy a Sport with Takumi pack and get the better handling etc or to buy the Takumi model? What are the key differences?

    1. Hello David,
      Thank you for contacting Lexus.
This really depends on your personal preferences.
We would recommend test driving both vehicles at your local Lexus Centre to get a feel for the key differences.
Alternatively, you can read about the key differences on our price list.

  6. I would like to replace my GS300h with a new ES model. However, the one feature I would really like is 4WD, available with the 4 matic versions of there E class MB and x-drive 5 series BMW. Is there likely to be an ES plug-in along the lines of the new NX450h with an electric motor on the rear to achieve 4wd??

    1. Hello Julien,
Thanks for your comment. We hope your GS 300h is serving you well.
We currently have no information on a ES plug-in.
Please keep an eye on our blog and social media channels for the latest information on our vehicle offerings.
      Thanks.

  7. I have just purchased a 2022 model ES300h f sport. I also added the tech and safety pack to the purchase which includes sequential front indicators. On collecting the vehicle it does not have sequential indicators ( which are part of the pack I paid for). My dealer made enquires and informed me Lexus no longer fit them !!!!! Why have I paid for something I did not get ? On the configure your Lexus on the Lexus site as of todays date 31/03/22 it still states they are included in that pack. This is my 9th Lexus since the year 2000. Never had a issue before with any model….False advertising !!!!

    1. Hello Stephen,
      Thanks for your comment.

      Thanks.

  8. How are the lead times for delivery? I ordered in March and was told not to expect delivery before November or even December.

    1. Hi Francis,

      Thanks for your order.

Unfortunately, that sounds about right. You should expect delivery early in 2023, but your Lexus centre is best placed to keep you updated on this.

      Thanks

  9. Hi, I have ordered a 2022 model year ES300h in UK back in Dec 2021, and been told by the dealer this has been upgraded to the 2023 model year and I selected tech & safety pack with the 22 model year which has been removed for the 23 model year, so wanted to check as I want the 3 eye LED headlights, will the car be upgraded to a takumi pack option as I would not want the car otherwise without the 3 eye LED headlights which is why I selected this pack in model year 2022, and feel the delays in production arent my fault, so wanted to check what happens as we are in between model years.

    1. Hello Dale,
      Thank you for your order.
We would recommend confirming this query with your Lexus Centre.
      Thanks.
