Since its introduction in 2012, Climate Concierge has undergone continuous improvement and been introduced to multiple models, including the most recent RZ electric SUV and LM luxury people carrier. What are the latest features of our intelligent climate control system, and how does it maintain an ideal cabin environment — adjusted to the preference of each occupant — regardless of the temperature outside the vehicle?

Individual service
At the best hotels, a concierge takes pride in ensuring guests have everything they need and are perfectly comfortable during their stay. The same attention to each individual’s hospitality is key to the Lexus principle of omotenashi and the seamless operation of Lexus Climate Concierge — our intelligent climate control system.

Lexus Climate Concierge goes further than conventional multi-zone air conditioning systems by using an array of infra-red sensors that constantly monitor the surface body temperature of occupants of different seats. It also takes into account additional factors affecting the cabin environment, such as sunlight through the windows or, as in the case of the LC Convertible, when the drop-top roof is down.

Heating and ventilation sources are finely adjusted to ensure optimum warmth or cooling is provided at all times. The system co-ordinates the operation of the heated steering wheel and integrated seat heating and ventilation as well as air vents throughout the cabin to deliver prompt response. The efficiency of the system is further improved by its ability to detect if a seat is unoccupied, which allows it to adjust the air conditioning performance accordingly.

Lexus Climate Concierge: the latest innovations
The Lexus RZ is the first model to integrate radiant heating into the Lexus Climate Concierge system. This new heating method uses infrared panels in the lower dashboard area to deliver warmth around the legs of the driver and front seat passenger while working faster and using less energy than a conventional convection heating system.

Using the Lexus Link+ app, owners do not have to wait until they enter the vehicle for the Climate Concierge to operate but can activate the air conditioning in advance so the car is suitably warmed or cooled before they depart.

In today’s Lexus models, air quality is also monitored and maintained using the nanoe-X system, which feeds trillions of water molecules into the ventilation air flow. This counters bad odours and can inhibit viruses, bacteria, allergens and the spread of mould. It also has a moisturising effect that is beneficial to human hair and skin.
