Lexus adds new Sport grade to NX crossover range

Lexus is adding extra dynamic style appeal to the NX 300h mid-size crossover with the addition of a new Sport version. It is the first expansion of the self-charging hybrid NX line-up since the new model was introduced last year, and follows the pattern established by the Sport versions of the Lexus RX luxury SUV and IS saloon in offering sportier looks at a competitive price point.

The new NX Sport introduces eye-catching black exterior details, including the horizontal bars and frame of the signature Lexus spindle grille, the door mirror housings and inner headlamp mouldings.

New 18-inch alloy wheels add extra impact to the NX’s street appearance with their dramatic two-tone bronze and gloss black finish.

The cabin strikes an equally sporting note with the option of an all-black interior finish with Tahara leather-like upholstery (as featured in the NX SE), or black with contrasting off-white accents on the seats and instrument panel (unique to the Sport – see image below). Silver trim inlays are featured as standard.

Equipment specifications match those of the NX 300h SE and include Lexus Premium Navigation with 10.3-inch display, Lexus Safety System+, ten-speaker audio system with DAB and single CD player, rain-sensing wipers, eight-way power adjustable heated front seats, reversing camera and dual-zone climate control. A Parking Pack with front and rear parking sensors is available as an accessory option.

The new NX Sport will be on sale from 1 June, price £36,500 on the road, with customer deliveries from the beginning of July.

  1. Good for nipping round to the shops – not a drivers car…
If lexus could have a good look at the infinity Q50 hybrid and put similar transmission and power in, they would have an absolute winner.
CVT transmission is ok with the 3.5 V6, but the rest drive and sound like sewing machines.
