Tennis stars Jamie Murray and Laura Robson have ‘served at speed’ by swapping court for car in an epic, never-before-attempted stunt that pushed the boundaries of their sport to two Guinness World Records titles:
World Record 1: Longest tennis rally on two moving cars.
World Record 2: Fastest speed achieved during a tennis rally on two moving cars.

The Served at Speed stunt was conceived and coordinated by Lexus as part of our partnership with the Lawn Tennis Assocation. It required the seven-time major doubles champion and Davis Cup winner Jamie Murray, together with Junior Wimbledon winner and Olympic medallist Laura Robson, to complete a rally of 101 consecutive shots from the rooftops of two Lexus NX models. As if that wasn’t enough, the cars would be travelling side-by-side at speeds of almost 30mph.
How the world records were achieved
Stunt coordinator Marc Cass brought the meticulously planned attempt to life. His impressive portfolio includes blockbusters in the Harry Potter, James Bond and Star Wars franchises, as well as TV series such as The Agency and Top Boy.
To make the Served at Speed stunt happen, robust aluminium platforms were securely attached to each vehicle’s roof rack fixing points and rigorously load-tested. Safety straps were used to further secure the platforms, and comprehensive testing and rides by stunt personnel were conducted to ensure the tennis players’ safety. Professional stunt drivers were behind the wheel of the Lexus NXs as they drove down the runway of Duxford Airfield.

How did the players feel about the Served at Speed challenge?
Commenting on their record-breaking feat, Murray and Robson said: “To achieve something that’s never been attempted before and also be awarded with two Guinness World Records titles is a thrill we’ll never forget. Not to mention the most exciting and unusual challenge we’ve ever taken on. Tennis is a sport that requires precision, skill and co-ordination. So playing a rally on top of moving cars travelling at speed is no mean feat! Setting this record together to celebrate the tennis season with Lexus and Sky Sports Tennis has been a surreal experience. It is something that has seen the key components of the sport we love come together in a new way.”

Lexus UK director Chris Hayes added: “Precision, performance and creativity go into everything we do. We’re always looking for bold and innovative ways to push boundaries beyond the traditional automotive sphere. To have our cars used in this Guinness World Records title with two tennis legends is a fantastic achievement. It celebrates our partnership with Sky Sports Tennis and our ongoing involvement in the sport. It’s been a fantastic tennis season so far, and the best is yet to come.”
