Lexus has the most comprehensive, multi-segment line-up of SUV models that it has ever offered in the UK. Whether you need space to pack for weekend getaways, the daily school run, or something more adventurous, our range of SUVs will accommodate your needs. But how does each model differ in terms of size, and which will best fit your lifestyle? Read on for our helpful Lexus SUV size guide.

Each model is identified by a descriptive, two- or three-letter acronym – for example, UX is a stylised contraction of Urban Crossover. However, these acronyms do not necessarily offer an immediate indication of the relative size of each model. We believe that an understanding of their comparative proportions is the first step in determining which Lexus SUV is the best possible fit for your needs and lifestyle… or even your garage.

How vehicle size relates to usage
In order to help customers choose the correct vehicle for their needs, cars sold in Europe are categorised alphabetically based on their relative size or type.

A-segment cars are the smallest and often described as ‘city cars‘; they generally range in size from 2700 to 3700mm long and may only seat four people. B-segment is the category for ‘small cars‘ or ‘superminis’, and these will usually measure between 3700 and 4200mm long. C-segment is for ‘medium cars‘ or ‘small family cars’, which range in size from 4200 to 4600mm, while D-segment is used to describe ‘large cars‘ or ‘large family cars’, which generally measure from 4600 to 5000mm in length.
The Lexus SUV range covers segment sizes ‘B’ to ‘D’. The B-segment LBX is positioned as the smallest model, and as a result is probably the most suitable for urban use. Small families may appreciate the greater space and practicality afforded by the medium-size C-segment UX or slightly larger NX. Meanwhile, larger families that require the most space, luggage capacity and long-distance comfort will be best served by the D-segment RZ or RX.

How vehicle size relates to its powertrain
The size heirarchy is also reflected in the increasing capacity and output of the electrified powertrain installed in each model. Within the Lexus SUV range, these fall into two types: petrol-electric hybrid or all-electric.
Hybrid. The LBX is equipped with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol-electric hybrid powertrain, while the UX is equipped with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol-electric hybrid powertrain (the UX is also available with an all-electric powertrain). All NX models and the majority of RX models are equipped with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol-electric powertrain (2.4-litre turbo in the RX 500h). As a general rule, the capacity and system output of each powertrain increases with the size of the vehicle.

All-electric. Following a similar pattern, the all-electric UX is equipped with a 72.82kWh battery and 201bhp, while the larger RZ is specified with a 77kWh battery pack and full system outputs configured to produce either 221, 376 or 402bhp.

Really hoping the RZ has interior room equal to or greater than the RX as I plan to trade my LS 460 for the electric RZ in 2024

Are the widths above excluding wing mirrors? If so, do you have the widths including them, as that makes it much easier to compare to my current car.
Hello Andrew, thanks for your comment.
