Lexus racing driver competes in Isolation eRacing Series

With the 2020 motorsport season on pause due to coronavirus, Lexus racing driver Jack Hawksworth has decided to go virtual and compete in the new Isolation eRacing Series from home.

Hawksworth, along with more than 100 other professional drivers, will take part by using the same state-of-the-art racing simulation technology that Formula One drivers use to hone their skills.

Aimed at giving motorsport fans their regular racing fix during the worldwide lockdown, each round of the Isolation eRacing Series comprises three live heats with the top 30 drivers then progressing to a final race.

Hawksworth raced in single-seater championships for several seasons, including in IndyCar, and currently drives for Lexus in the American IMSA series with the AIM Vasser Sullivan team. Last year, the Briton guided the V8-powered RC F GT3 to victory at both Mid-Ohio and Belle-Isle.

Racing alongside the Lexus star driver will be Formula One’s Lando Norris and Nicholas Latifi, Formula E’s Oliver Rowland, F4’s Sebastian Montoya, British driver and F1 pundit Billy Monger plus more than 100 professional drivers from a range of different motor racing series.

Races will be held on virtual versions of world-famous tracks across the globe including Silverstone, the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  The first race will take place at Watkins Glen and will use Formula 3 machinery. From round two onwards viewers will be able to vote for the circuit they would like to see via social media.

You can catch the Isolation eRacing Series weekly on BT Sport 1, with the first round starting at 6pm on Monday May 11.
