The Lexus GS range just got even stronger – as the covers have come off the new GS300h hybrid at the Shanghai Motor Show. The GS300h uses a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine with D-4S direct injection technology, and a compact, powerful electric motor to supply power to the rear wheels.
Lexus’s target of CO2 emissions below 110g/km will make the GS 300h one of the most efficient models in premium executive class.
The GS 300h will join Lexus’s UK model range late this year and will also be sold in global markets including China, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. It joins the GS 450h and GS 250 in the UK, and the GS 350 and 350 AWD (all-wheel drive) models, which are available elsewhere.
The new GS was introduced in spring 2012 and recorded 47,787 worldwide sales by the end of the year, almost six times the total its predecessor model achieved in 2011.
