Lexus has been delighted to sponsor grassroots junior rugby throughout the UK with the Lexus Rugby Tournament. This Sunday the inaugural 2013/14 season reaches its climax with the National Final at Sixways Stadium, home to Premiership rugby side Worcester Warriors.
The Lexus Rugby Tournament is designed to nurture young rugby talent and offer exciting opportunities for the stars of the future to hone their skills in competition. It is also backed by Rugby World Cup player and ex-England rugby international Richard Hill.
As part of its commitment, Lexus has ensured that each of the teams received complimentary shirts in their club colours plus additional support from local Lexus Centres, so that finance can be released into other areas of the clubs’ development.
Six regional qualifiers were hosted during October and November 2013, where a total of 2,250 children from 44 teams took part in four age groups (Under 7, Under 8, Under 9 and Under 10). This format helped to whittle down the participants to 24 teams and 300 players, whereby the winning team from each age group qualified for the exciting National Final.
Seventeen Lexus Centres will be represented at the final on Sunday from 09:30am to 15:30pm and they are looking forward to welcoming the players, friends and family members that will no doubt fill the 12,000 capacity Sixways Stadium with extremely vocal support. Lexus UK will also be in attendance with an impressive five-vehicle display including CT 200h, IS 300h, GS 300h, RX 450h and its awesome LFA that has recently returned from its major service.
The Lexus Rugby Tournament returns in 2014/15 with qualifying rounds once again being played in October and November.
I love rugby and think this is a great idea – well done Lexus!
Thanks for your feedback Chris.
