2019 Lexus NX: revised grades and specifications

The existing range of Lexus premium SUV models has been primed for 2019 with new equipment grades and revised specifications. This post concentrates on changes applied to the mid-size NX self-charging hybrid, while the previous post details changes applied to the full-size RX model.

2019 Lexus NX: overview

The Lexus NX mid-size SUV follows the same pattern as RX for 2019, with new NX, F Sport and Takumi grades. Specifications within each grade have been tailored to meet the preferences and requirements of customers.

Base and mid-grade models are supported by generous option packs that allow additional options to be easily added.

The other important revision for 2019 is that all models in the range now feature all-wheel drive, using our compact and efficient E-Four system.

    1. Hi David,

      Thanks for getting in touch. The only changes made to the specifications of the NX grades are outlined in the above blog post. The NX still has the self-charging hybrid system, featuring a 2.5-litre Atkinson cycle engine and an electric motor.

      Apple CarPlay is not standard on any of the grades.

      1. Hi, Thanks for your prompt answer. Although not standard, is Apple car play or Android Auto available as an option? If not, Lexus must be one of the few car brands to omit the availability of this technology and I’m surprised this wasn’t picked up as a customer feedback and built into your customer ” preferences and requirements”.

  2. What’s really new?
    Are we to get apple CarPlay ?
    Does the high beam assist work safety?
    Remember the last model left drivers with dangerous poor light until they reached 41 MPH on unlit roads before the high beam comes on?
    If you’v fixed it can we have an upgrade on our 2018 cars?

Safety is extremely important to us, so as ever, if you believe that there is any kind of fault with your vehicle, we would strongly advise for you to contact your nearest Lexus Centre for an inspection. The NX does not feature Apple CarPlay.

  4. Really disappointed with some of the answers to other questions asked, especially about Apple CarPlay not being available. Was expecting it to be included and purchase a new car but unlikely to buy one now. Even my sons Corsa and my work van have CarPlay included.

  5. Yes, agree with Jason, Apple CarPlay should be part of Lexus’ technology. Other Lexus markets, e.g. US, has CarPlay across the whole MY19 line-up for cars built after 1 October 2018.
    Come on, Lexus UK, get it resolved. At least offer a retrofit option like Mazda UK did recently across the range. £350 and 90 minutes and, voila, CarPlay in the wife’s Mazda.

  6. After taking an NX for another spin, I have put down the £ so looking forward to getting it in a couple of weeks. It would be fantastic if someone at Lexus could pass on that we want Apple CarPlay fitted FOC or at least a reasonable price in the near future. You know it makes sense!

  7. I’ve just also purchased a nx300h and I find the sat nav not easy at all to use Iam now using google maps on my phone instead of the cars sat nav . Iam very disappointed that it does not have apple car play.
    It surely should be a must have .

    2. Hi .. got Lexus NX300h September 2018 and I agree with above comment..the SATNAV leaves alot to be desired… really disappointed.

  8. I have a 66plate NX Luxury, from new, and although very happy I have one niggle that will not be solved. For a ‘Luxury’ car not to have a lumbar adjustment is beyond me. My fault as the test drive car had a lumbar adjustment. The reason I write, is that looking through the specs for the 2019 car, again you do not get a lumbar adjustment unless you upgrade to the Sport!!
    Not good enough Lexus!

  9. Hi Lexus. When do you think you’ll categorically say CarPlay will not be available on MY2019 UK Lexus cars rather than saying “we have no information”? I’d order an ES Takumi right now if I knew CarPlay was coming or would be retrofitted later in the year.

  10. I have just taken receipt of brand new Lexus NX300 Tikumi, and we are very pleased with the whole car except the Navigation system, which is impossible to work out, we have spent hours trying different procedures looked at countless videos on Google, all to no avail, because the videos are not up to date ie 2019. Is it possible that the software package can be changed to my former nav system. It looks like to me one needs a degree to work the set up out, whereas all the customer needs is a simple set up for routes and addresses. I am very disappointed with the SatNav system. It’s not an improvement – it’s a disaster. Yours 4th March 2019
