Lexus will celebrate its “Creating Amazing” philosophy with an installation and art exhibition at this year’s Milan Design Week. The presentation, -amazing flow-, will combine its new design direction with the finest in Japanese contemporary art, architecture and design to express its vision of the future.
Architect Toyo Ito, a member of the Lexus Design Award jury, and up-and-coming designer Akihisa Hirata have been selected to create the work for the Milan show. Both men were honoured with a Golden Lion for the Japan pavilion at the 2012 Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition.
They will continue their collaboration to create a multi-sensory environment for Lexus in which visitors will experience the “flow” of the city of the future. They will show how people, cars, wind, water and other elements interact to create a single entity, leading to new ways of living and moving. The installation, will demonstrate how Lexus constantly works create new perceptions of well-established values.
The work will be on view at Milan’s Museo della Permanente gallery from April 10th to 14th, forming part of the Salone del Mobile di Milano, the world’s largest design exhibition.
The Lexus exhibition halls will also present the work of the 10 winners in the first Lexus Design Award. The overall winner will be announced on 28 February, with further details on the Lexus Global website.
