Mainland Europe may be just a short distance away and your Lexus is designed to be the ideal companion for a continental road trip. However, a spontaneous decision to drive abroad could put you at risk of receiving an on-the-spot fine if you do not have all the compulsory or recommended safety equipment on board.
While it is possible to buy each of the necessary items individually from different sources, Lexus has released a comprehensive European Safety Kit in its accessory range for all those who like to have everything together in one neat, handy package.
Included in the European Safety Kit are four high-visibility safety jackets, a first aid kit, two warning triangles, headlamp converters, two breathalysers and a GB sticker.
Contained in a branded carry case measuring approximately 47x11x11cm, this kit was designed to be carried at all times so you can always be prepared for the unexpected, whether driving in the UK or abroad. In fact, so compact is it that you should still be able to squeeze the proverbial kitchen sink into the boot!
Order your European Safety Kit from your local Lexus Centre at a cost of £55.

Hi, I have a RX450h (2013), do I need to add the stickers to prevent kick-up of the beam when driving in n France?
Hello Mark,
Thank you for your question.
To drive abroad on the right side of the road you’re not allowed to have the kick-up on the left of the beam.
Your nearest Lexus centre will be able to assess whether the left of your beam has kick-up. If there is a kick-up, you’ll need to apply stickers to remove it.
We hope this helps.
Thanks.
same question I’m driving a ES 300h LX21 XJG thro France Belgium and Netherlands and wondered if beam deflectors are necessary on this model and how would they be fitted

Hi, I have a Lexus NX 300h Takumi and I’m currently living in an European country, as you know the road is on the opposite side and with that I’m required to have the headlight direction to be switched so that they are facing the opposite side. I’ve heard from other car owners,( not Lexus though) that the car has a way of doing so on the screen, personalising it basically however even with enlarged reaserch I do not know how to do so.
Does anyone know how to change the direction of the light from left to right ?
Hello Mario, thanks for your comment.
We can only advise on UK specification vehicles. Please contact Lexus Portugal regarding this.
Thanks.
Is there a switch in the Lexus NX450h+ to change dipped high beam to the right to drive in France?
Hello Roger.
All of our new cars with LED headlights have a flat beam pattern so will not need deflectors when driving in Europe. Older models have a ‘kick up’ on the left which would head directly into the view of oncoming drivers.
We hope this answers your question.
Thank you.
I have a Lexus 300h Premier first registered in January 2016 … is that “new” enough to not need deflectors when driving in Europe?
Correction: Lexus NX300h Premier …
Hello Michael, thanks for your question.
To drive abroad on the right side of the road you’re not allowed to have the kick-up on the left of the beam. Your nearest Lexus Centre will be able to tell you if the left of your beam has kick-up.
If there is a kick-up, you’ll need to apply stickers to remove this.
We hope this helps.
Thanks.
My nearest Lexus Centre has not been able to confirm to me if my Lexus NX300h Premier – first registered in January 2016 – has kick-up on the left of the beam.
Please could you advise the month and year when this model was first manufactured without the kick-up on the left of the beam?
I do not want to have to bother with having to buy and apply stickers if they are not necessary.
Thanks
Hello Michael,
Please may you provide your Vehicle Registration so that we can look into this.
Thanks.
My nearest Lexus Centre has now confirmed that my Lexus NX300h Premier (Jan 2016) does not require headlight deflector stickers, thank you.
Does my Lexus UX 250H – first registered 23 Dec 21 need beam deflectors in Europe?

Hi Lexus, I have a 2023 UK model NX350h Premium Plus model registered January 2024. The car doesn’t have Adaptive Headlight System, but does have Auto High Beam. Do I need headlight converters for driving in France? The headlights are so compact that there doesn’t seem much room for them.
Many Thanks
Good afternoon, Tim.
Thanks for getting in touch.
All of our new cars with LED headlights have a flat beam pattern so will not need deflectors when driving in Europe. Older models have a ‘kick up’ on the left which would head directly into the view of oncoming drivers.
Our technical team have advised that you visit your local Lexus centre or MOT centre to have the beam pattern checked on a beam analyser before heading abroad. The use of stick on beam deflectors is not advised as LED type headlamps can let of a lot of heat and generally cause the stickers to melt on the lens. However, some European laws do require these beam deflector stickers to be present though so worth purchasing anyway.
We hope this helps.
Thank you.
