What better way to celebrate the lighter, brighter days of spring than by indulging in a relaxing and rejuvinating spa break. Our efforts to help customers experience amazing has led us to recommend some refreshingly different spas — from cliff-top wooden saunas and forest spa trails to natural reed plunge pools and celestial flotation tanks. All the venues listed below show an attention to detail, luxury, comfort and hospitality that is shared by Lexus and present in all our cars.

Beach Box Sauna Spa, Brighton. Hosted right on the beach, just steps from the sea, this spa experience consists of three wood-fired saunas made from converted horse boxes capable of holding six to twelve people, all with panoramic views. There’s also a fire pit, bucket shower, chilled ice bath, cool plunge pool and chilly slipper bath to cool off in between sauna sessions. Additional treatments include exfoliating salt scrubs, clay face masks and aromatherapy ice balls to sizzle on the hot rocks.

The Falls Spa, Keswick. Overlooking Derwentwater in the spectacular Lake District, this spa seamlessly blends the outdoors with the indoors. This reminded us of the traditional Japanese architectural concept of engawa, which has inspired the interior design of some recent Lexus models. The spa incorporates natural wood, hand-finished stone and ceramics to echo the national park backdrop, with a glass-walled sauna providing panoramic views. A wide range of treatments and options are available, as well as bed and breakfast stays.

Saunas by the Sea, Polzeath and Padstow

Saunas by the Sea, Polzeath and Padstow. These wood-fired, eco-friendly saunas in spectacular locations (see above) along the Cornwall coast provide a place to relax and recharge after a hard day surfing or hiking. A new spa and wellness centre has also been launched in Coronation Gardens in Polzeath, adding a range of wellness-oriented outdoor classes and workshops such as yoga, circuits, surf strength and conditioning, meditation and breath work. If you fancied combining a spa visit with an overnight stay, consider the Scarlet Hotel in Mawgan Porth, which offers a reed-filtered natural indoor pool, clifftop cedar wood sauna, and steam room.

Titanic Spa, Linthwaite

Titanic Spa, Linthwaite. This Yorkshire venue (above) combines the historical architecture of a restored 20th century textile mill with a modern spa and accommodation facilities, set within the majestic Pennine Hills. It focuses on sustainability, using renewable energy generated by solar roof panels, its own natural spring water source, and use of local produce. A range of spa day, treatments and weekend stays are available.

Barnham Broom, Norwich

Barnham Broom, Norwich. The perfect location (above) to combine a relaxing spa break with a round or two of golf, and provides a great base from which to explore nearby attractions such as the Norfolk Broads, Cromer and Sheringham. It has extensive gardens, 46 luxury hotel rooms plus several apartments sleeping up to eight people. There’s a range of spa day packages plus overnight spa breaks with treatments, afternoon tea, dinner, breakfast and use of all spa facilities.

Cottonmill Spa, St Albans

Cottonmill Spa, St Albans. Located within Sopwell House hotel in the Hertfordshire countryside, the spa has offers a swimming pool, a pair of vitality pools and a hydrotherapy pool. It also features a state-of-the-art gym, sauna and steam room, a poolside terrace (above), and relaxation room. Meanwhile, the exclusive Club area includes various themed rooms and luxurious spa gardens. For longer stays, Sopwell House provides 126 rooms and 16 individually designed suites around its beautifully landscaped gardens.

The Greenhouse Spa, Abberley. Nestled behind the Elms Hotel country manor in rural Worcestershire, the spa offers beautifully crafted rooms, each with its own distinct styling and furnishings. Its botanical themed spaces include indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy pools, saunas, steam rooms and a fitness centre.

Wildwood Spa, Ilfracombe

Wildwood Spa, Ilfracombe. For a more intimate relaxing experience, this Ravendere retreat (above) provides a self-catering, two-person cabin set in 12 acres of private North Devonshire woodland, with beaches, shops and restaurants a short drive away. Built from timber and stone in a minimalist Nordic style, the two living spaces feature sedum roof panels and are separated by an infinity pool overlooking abundant foliage. The facilities include a woodland waterfall shower, cedar and glass sauna and hydrotherapy pool loungers, with views over the valley and woodland.

Nirvana Spa, Wokingham. This spa is known for its crystal-clear pools, whose water is drawn from a natural aquifer. The Roman-themed spa features a number of indoor and outdoor spaces, including pools with arched ceilings and palm trees. Its Colosseum suite offers sculptures, artworks and balneotherapy pool filled with rejuvenating warm, gently moving, extra-oxygenated mineral water. The range of spa treatments include sessions in a starlit celestial pool or mineral-enriched flotation pool to alleviate pain, sleep problems and stress.

Utopia Spa, East Grinstead. This award-winning spa in West Sussex is attached to the five-star Alexander House hotel, a Jacobean manor set in 120 acres of gardens. It offers 25 treatment rooms, including three for couples, plus relaxation lounges, indoor pools, a bespoke outdoor barrel sauna and an amazing hot tub. A range of spa day packages are available, with a variety of dining and overnight stay options.

Thermae Spa, Bath. A visit to the UK’s most famous spa town is not complete without a dip in Bath’s natural thermal waters. The rooftop spa (lead image and above) on the city’s appropriately named Hot Bath Street provides the opportunity to relax while soaking up an amazing view of the surrounding skyline. Meanwhile inside, the spa’s wellness suite includes an infrared room, ice chamber, celestial relaxation room and two steam rooms.

Skuna hot tub boat, London

Skuna hot tub boat, London. How about something entirely different? Hosted from West India Quay in Canary Wharf, Skuna offers floating hot tub boats (above) that will each take up to eight people for a leisurely 75-minute cruise along the Thames, while its occupants bask in water heated to 38-degrees Celsius. Piloting instructions, a safety briefing and route guidance are provided before embarking, and the water is changed after every trip. A range of hot and cold drinks can be ordered to enjoy during the voyage.

Northern Ireland

Finnlough Elements Trail, Aghnablaney. Located on the Donegal/Fermanagh border, this experience is based around a two-hour trail through a series of hot and cold treatments rooms deep in a forest. Surrounded by nature, the trail features a Finnish sauna and lake plunge (below), a float room, herbal sauna, hot tub and relaxation room. The spa aims to reconnect visitors with the elements, imbuing a deep sense of calm and quiet seclusion from everyday life. Day packages are available, as well as overnight stays in cabins, suites or transparent domes with uninterrupted sky views.

Scotland

Marine Troon, Ayrshire. Recently voted one of the best spas in Scotland, Marine Troon offers a range of state-of-the-art leisure and wellness facilities, plus an indoor pool (below) with superb views of the Ayrshire coastline. Services include hot stone massages, detox body wraps, seaweed treatments and facials. A range of day and overnight packages are available through the onsite hotel, which also has a putting green overlooking Royal Troon Golf Club.

Wales

Lake Country House, Llangamarch Wells. This manor house hotel is located on the banks of the Irfon river near Builth Wells in mid-Wales. Set in 50 acres of grounds, the spa offers a 15-metre swimming pool, saunas and hot tubs, with views of its picturesque lake. Both day and overnight packages are available.
