Lexus IS 300h sees off Mercedes C300 BlueTEC Hybrid in Auto Express shootout

The Lexus IS 300h has scored a victory over the Mercedes C300 BlueTEC Hybrid in an Auto Express twin test.

Explaining its verdict Auto Express wrote: “(The IS 300h’s) hybrid powertrain feels
better resolved than the Mercedes’, as it relies on the electric motor more frequently to save fuel, is more refined and switches between drive modes more smoothly.”

Auto Express added: “…it’s more relaxing to drive…if you go for a Premier model, you won’t be left wanting for kit.”

The IS 300h benefits from a winning blend of sharp exterior lines, a beautifully designed zonal dashboard and low running costs. Coupled with Lexus’ reputation for hybrid leadership, it’s little surprise to see the car score a march over its German rival. You can see the full review on the Auto Express website.

Worth noting:

• The IS 300h range starts at £29,495* OTR.
• SE models emit 99g/km meaning exemption from vehicle tax
• The IS 300h delivers up to 65.7 mpg on the combined cycle
